Experimenting with Haikus

February 16, 2015

So this is a brief attempt at a haiku based on the prompt of water and using a simile….

Praise, like water is
For the soul to grow, more than
Sorrow, to Son-light

Second draft
Praise like water, now
My heart a drumbeat thankful
Sinews, meshed in breath
Dust giving birth to new sound
Sorrow to sunlight

Combined…

Praise, like water is
For the soul to grow–more than
Sorrow to Son–light
Praise like water, now
My heart a drumbeat thankful
Sinews, meshed in breath
Dust giving birth to new sound
Sorrow to sunlight

One small step…

February 7, 2015

It’s February…..already! It seems like it’s colder now than it was in December and January alone! But, that’s cool. Already the year is close to 1/6 complete, a little more than 10% of the year has passed. As you’ve lived more than a month into the new year, that’s a reason to give God praise for that alone. You’re one month older, wiser and prayerfully, better. Opportunities for better choices have already crossed our paths. For those who have established goals and are getting closer to them, celebrate and praise Him! For those who are feeling like you’re not any closer to where you’re trying to get to, be encouraged.

Each day, each second, each moment, each breath, is a chance to seek God, not only for what He can do. But, more importantly, for who He is. In His sovereignty, He is not limited by time, circumstances, missteps or miscalculations. He is God alone all by Himself, the master creator. It’s my prayer that as you seek His voice, that you be encouraged, empowered, invigorated; trusting and believing in faith and not relying solely on emotions. Trust Him at His word, and watch Him do the supernatural in your life. A small step towards Him is a giant leap closer to what He wants to do in and through you. Don’t give up, don’t give in, keep the faith and you are gon’ win!
