Let this mind be in you…

December 31, 2014

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus

Romans 12:1-2

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Having the mind of Christ involves studying His word, and actively gauging your thoughts. Do they line up with His word? There are times in life when things get tough, but remember, who gives you strength as a child of God. Don’t just look at the situation, but remember your Creator and His word.Turn to Him with your praise and your faith.

Your actions start with your thoughts, hence it is all the more important to seek His help. In seeking His word, you gain  more of an understanding for God, His desires and promises for you. Seek His voice, make yourself available to Him. When you seek after the Lord and His statutes, He will draw nigh to you and be an ever present help. There is no problem too big or too small! In the midst of seeking Him, you build your relationship with Him.

Proverbs 1:7

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

As you seek the Lord with fear, ie. reverence and respect for who He is, He will reveal more of Himself and His ways. In life, there are times where we won’t understand, or know how to proceed. But, no matter the problem, you can turn to Him. In the midst of the trials, God wants to get the glory. See your trials as your future testimony.

As you seek the Lord with a willingness and obedience to His word, you can trust Him and watch Him move in your life.

Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

As children of God, we have to keep a constant remembrance of God’s word. In those times where the enemy tries to buffet your mind, we need to counter it with what God says. When the enemy tries to come against you, remember as a child of God that God wants you to be above and not beneath. He wants your focus, worship, your faith and obedience. When your mind is cluttered with doubt and unbelief, it can become easy to focus on the immediate situation, rather than seeing the big picture. The big picture is that you are blessed and highly favored. The big picture is that in the midst of whatever you’re facing, that God’s plans for you are greater than you can even imagine. Jeremiah 29:11 is a scripture that has resonated with me lately, as it is a reminder that our thoughts should line up with thoughts of His peace, love and joy.

As a child of God, each day is a day that the Lord is desiring to get even closer to you. In the midst of the trials or difficulties that you may face during the day, see them as an opportunity that God wants to reveal that much more of Himself to you. In the rough and tough, in the sunlight of peace, God wants to get the glory. And, because of that, as a child of God, you cannot lose. Continue to seek Him and remember His word.
