Call on Him

December 10, 2012

I Kings 18:16-18: So Obadiah went to meet Ahab and told him, and Ahab went to meet Elijah. When he saw Elijah, he said to him, “Is that you, you troubler of Israel?” NIV

Reading this passage and chapter today, a few things stuck out to me. In the midst of all of the adversity, Elijah had the holy boldness to standup and proclaim God’s truth. In the midst of being called outside of who he was, he stood in his identity as a child of God. So many times, it’s easy to feel inadequate or that you’re not enough. But, that’s a trick of the enemy! You have to remind yourself, through prayer and God’s word, just who you are. Even in the midst of your hurt, your struggles, and your trials, God wants to reveal Himself to you. Also, there comes a point where you have to believe it for yourself who you are in God, and not rely on others’ opinion. There comes a point where yes, you can hear positive, but when the negative comes, when people don’t understand you or what you’re about, that you have to remind yourself that God fearfully and wonderfully made you. More so, God has a specific plan ordained for your life.

The trials in your life are not to destroy you, but to shift you, strengthen you, and get you to increase your dependence on God. When you call on the name of Jesus, He will be sure to answer. It may not seem like it, nor may it feel like it, but God is there.
